This is another idea on how to eat tempeh. This time just a very simple “dry” recipe, with no sauce – just pan fried tempeh with spices that can be used next to any side dish you like, in salads or even by itself.
Pan fried tempeh
Servings: 2
Cooking time: 15-20 min
Difficulty: easy
Ingredients
- 200 grams of tempeh
- oil for frying (I used sunflower oil)
- sweet or spicy paprika to taste
- garlic powder
- onion powder
- salt
Directions
- Cut the tempeh into small cubes.
- Heat up a pan and add a thin layer of sunflower oil.
- Place the tempeh in and season with salt. Then add like 3-4 tablespoons of water, cover with a lid and fry the, for 7-10 min on medium fire or until they are golden.
- Flip on the other side, add a bit more salt, then add the same amount of water and cover with a lid for another 7 min.
- Once they are nicely golden add your spices to taste: paprika, onion and garlic powder.
- Serve warm next to a salad or side dish. Optionally, you can drizzle on it a sauce you like. For example I added here the Indonesian Ketcap Manis.
