Easy to grow plants in a pot: arugula

Arugula, rucola or rocket (you gotta love this plant just for its name) is a plant that is truly easy to grow in a pot. I will tell you the reasons immediately.

Arugula is definitely an acquired taste, but once you acquire it you will keep it. It is healthy, containing decent amounts of vitamin A, C and K as well as Iron, Magnesium and Calcium. But it is also very tasty and even spicier when you plant it yourself.

Why is it easy to grow it in a pot on your balcony?

It doesn’t require too much direct sun

On the contrary, the leaves will fade fast in the sun, so keep it in shade and it will grow perfectly fine.

It doesn’t require a big pot or space

Any pot size, maybe taller than 10 cm would do. They have small roots, so they won’t expand excessively.

You can have the first harvest in 20 days!

Arugula takes for about 4 days to sprout and additional 15 days to have the first real leaves developed. So it is a very fast herb to grow. One very important information I would like to add – they love humidity, so make sure your soil is always moist. You can even place the pot in a bucket with water until the soil absorbs the water and the soil becomes moist until the top of the pot.

Every leaf you take will grow back

The type of arugula I bought is not the classical one with multiple corners, but they start to look like that more and more after re-growing. In any case, the taste is not affected no matter what type of arugula you grow.
