3 simple home-made lemonades to refresh your summer

I love summer! Especially when it is so hot you can barely breath. For those of you who feel like suffocating when it gets too hot, I have the perfect solution: healthy and refreshing home-made lemonades, very simple to prepare. They are cheap, fast to make and so refreshing you won’t be able to stop drinking them.

1. Thyme lemonade

Nobody should be surprised when seeing a sweet thyme drink on my blog. I just love thyme and this is my favorite drink ever.

For the drink you will need:

  • ice
  • 3-4 tbsp from the thyme infusion (from sugar, water and thyme)
  • a good squeeze from a fresh lemon
  • sparkling water

For the infusion: just add sugar and water in equal amount, add some fresh thyme and bring them to a boil.

2. Cucumber lemonade

Another very refreshing (and quite unexpected) combination is lemon with cucumber.

For this drink you will need:

  • ice
  • 3-4 fresh leaves of mint
  • 1 cucumber
  • few slices of lemon
  • few slices of lime
  • still water (sparkling water is fine too, but I prefer this one with still water

Blend 2/3 of the cucumber together with the mint and some water. Add the blended liquid on the ice cubes, put in the rest of the cucumber (sliced), lime and lemon slices and top with water.

3. Ice coffee drink

This is not a lemonade, but cool and refreshing drink nonetheless. I use decaf coffee, since I find that caffeine doesn’t go too well with the heat, but your choice here. It is smooth and very pleasurable to sip from.

For this drink you will need:

  • ice
  • 2 tsp of instant coffee
  • whole milk
  • 1 tbsp of vanilla ice cream

Just dissolve the coffee in a bit of water and mix it with the milk, ice cream and then put it on the ice and enjoy!

Enjoy the sun and keep hydrated 😉
