There is really something fascinating about the melted cheese, probably on of the biggest secrets of pizza. But in a sandwich can be just as delicious.
Add randomly some bacon to it and butter and there is not much that can go bad… Except maybe the weight. But there are these days when you simply deserve and need this great warm sandwich.
I have two version and I liked both, though the bacon one is certainly the winner.
Goat cheese with bacon
- First of all, how to cook the bacon: on low fire (yeah, surprising) with a splash of ice water for about 25-30 min. That will keep the moisture and will prevent drying it out, while still making it crunchy.
- Spread some butter on both sides of the bread.
- Add few slices of hard half-cured goat cheese. It really gives it a nice twist.
- Add the crunchy bacon.
- In the same pan where you fried the bacon, fry the sandwich on one side. I press down on it to make it more compact and get the cheese to melt faster.
- Add some butter and fry it on the other side.
- Add a lid on to allow the cheese to melt better and keep it on medium fire for like 4 min.
- It is ready to be devoured.
Brie cheese with ham
- This version is faster, since you don’t need to prepare the bacon.
- Spread some butter on both sides of the bread.
- Add few slices of brie.
- On top of it add your favorite ham.
- Melt some butter in a pan and cook it on medium fire until golden on both sides.
- Add a lid on to allow the cheese to melt better and keep it on medium fire for like 4 min.
- And there you have a fast and warm melted cheese sandwich, and no need to get a toaster anymore.
